My hubby and I are cozy and warm in our home today, watching the snow drift slowly to the ground from our window. We’ve been living in a winter wonderland as of late; gallivanting in the snow by day, snuggling under bundles of blankets by night. And, of course, hot chocolate whenever possible.

Hello Lovelies:

As most of you know I am Graves Disease Warrior, intent on thriving and living in harmony with my autoimmune disease.

I do this in many ways: by treating myself with the utmost amount of kindness and respect. I love myself unapologetically and make decisions based on what will be best for my health and wellbeing. By eating mindfully; consuming what I believe will benefit my biological functions and support my health. I surround myself with amazing people (thank you, I am so grateful for all of you!). I’ve learned to be incredibly self-aware; when my body shows signs of dysfunction I listen and react accordingly.

But I also have medical help. I have an amazing family doctor and a wonderful endocrinologist that provide me with excellent care.

It’s a delicate and necessary balance. But self care and medical care are imperative if you want to thrive with an illness like Graves Disease. Here’s why:

Happy December! We are truly in a Winter Wonderland here in Atlantic Canada and the holiday count down has begun. Dairy Free Vanilla Milkshake with Maple Whipped Cream

Hello Lovelies:

Last Sunday, during our weekly scheduled ‘Walking Dead’ hang out, I found myself craving a vanilla milkshake. Ice cream was a comfort food growing up and part of a serious mother-daughter hang out tradition. I think my Glenn withdrawals (seriously… I NEED TO KNOW) left me needing something sweet and distracting. Like a Vanilla Milkshake…

In typical Health-Esteem fashion I went to my kitchen and got creative. What I came up with is pretty freaking good if I do say so myself. And I do! This delicious, dairy free super star will leave you licking the bowl! And to top things off I threw in some Maple Whipped Cream for extra goodness.
