I’ve been lactose intolerant for more years than I can count! I used to inhale lactase enzyme pills like candy and eat my fill of cheese, chocolate and ice cream. Those pills eventually began to fail sporadically and I discovered that I thrive on a dairy free diet. While I’ve found alternatives for almost everything (I spend a great deal of time with nut milks, coconut milk ice cream, and dark chocolate) I sometimes find myself pining for cheese. Which is why nutritional yeast and the dairy free cheese recipes you can create with it has been my savior!
Want to give it a try? This Dairy Free Cheese Dip is a pretty good place to start!
That’s why I was happy to welcome Nutritional Yeast into our little kitchen.
It’s replaced parmesan cheese in our pasta, adds oomph to our salads and stir fries, and it’s the star of many sauces and dips! This delicious, nutritious powerhouse helps quench all of my cravings for cheesy goodness.
Not only will nutritional yeast enhance the flavour of any dish, it has a lot to offer in the health department. Rich in B Vitamins, something many vegans and vegetarians may be lacking. B Vitamins play an important role in metabolism, cell production and grown. They also help your body regenerate red blood cells and maintain a healthy nervous system. No one should miss out on that! Add in the fact that this lovely, delicious super star is a complete protein and offers up fiber, iron, selenium and zinc… can it get any better than this?
Of course it can! Because I’m sharing my delicious Nutritional Yeast Cheesy Dip. This gluten free, dairy free recipe is a family favourite! If you’re anything like me you’ll likely be licking the leftovers right out of the bowl (or maybe your table manners are better than mine!). I love to pair this dip with homemade rainbow pan fries, fresh veggies or tortilla chips. It’s so good I can scoop it up in a spoon and devour it solo! Give it a try; I know you’ll be crazy for it too!
